According to Cummins official sources, manufacturers will launch the X15 model 6-cylinder engine for heavy-duty trucks in 2017, with lower emissions and maintenance costs and higher fuel economy.
The X15 is an upgraded version of the ISX15. After optimizing the compression ratio, intake and exhaust systems and combustion process, the engine has improved fuel economy by 20% and maintenance cost by 30% compared to the ISX15 engine introduced in 2010. And meet the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s 2017 emission standards.
The X15 engine has an output of 400-605 hp and a maximum torque of 2780 Nm. The engine is also equipped with a telematics system that can be programmed, customized and diagnosed wirelessly. With Cummins dedicated programs, users can upgrade their own engine system to the latest official settings without having to send the truck to the service station.
The engine was trial-produced at the Cummins plant in New York at the end of 2016 and fully operational in January 2017. (Compiled by Li Wenhao)
