Continental Group and US company cooperate to develop new technologies for transmission gearboxes

Recently, Continental , an international auto parts supplier, signed a licensing and engineering service agreement with Fallbrook Technology . The focus of the collaboration is NuVinci® gearbox technology developed by Fallbrook. The NuVinci® Planetary Continuously Variable Transmission (CVP) is an innovative continuously variable transmission (CVT) that uses a rotating ball to achieve infinitely variable transmission ratios. “This cooperation with Fallbrook has provided us with a good opportunity to expand our business activities in the personal transportation field in the city,” said Rudolf Stark, head of the gearbox control business unit of the Continental Powertrain Business Unit. Gearbox-based, development of new electromechanical drive solutions for urban transport."

“We look forward to cooperating with a successful large-scale integrated company such as Continental Group,” said William G. KlehmIII, president and chief executive officer of Fallbrook Technology Corporation. “This cooperation marks a solid step forward for us to achieve the goal of fully promoting NuVinci technology. We have already occupied an important position in the bicycle industry and our influence in the automotive industry is also expanding. In this industry, our licensees have made significant progress in developing products that can be put on the market directly. In cooperation, we will have more opportunities to develop groundbreaking new applications."

In the NuVinci gearbox, Fallbrook uses the rotating spheres arranged in a circle to achieve a change from Gears to SpheresTM. The tilt ball is located between the input and output components of the gearbox. By tilting the ball, the contact diameter can be changed to change the gear ratio. NuVinci gearboxes can be configured to replace a variety of planetary gearboxes, while achieving a more compact size and increasing system efficiency.

This technology has a common feature and can be used to develop customized products that meet the needs of applications ranging from fixed equipment to bicycles and automobiles.

Floating Head Heat Exchanger

Floated type shell&tube heat exchanger is mostly used for large temperature fluctuations and temperature differences, compared with Fixed Tube Heat Exchanger, its structure is more complex and more expensive.

One end of the tube is fixed on an immobile Tube Sheet, which is clamped between the shell Flange and the tube flange, and is connected by bolts; the other end of the tube is fixed on a floating head tube sheet, which is clamped between the floating cover and the hook ring connected by studs, forming a floating head that can move freely in the shell.

If the tube bundle and the shell are heated and elongated, they do not affect each other, so there is no temperature difference stress. The floating part is a detachable connection consisting of the floating tube sheet, hook ring and floating cover. It is easier to take the tube bundle out, and the tube can be cleaned both inside and outside and is easy access.
