Former Daimler executive Rainer Schmueckle will join Johnson Controls (JCI) as president of the seat business unit and chief operating officer of the automotive business unit.
Schmueckle, 51, had a 25-year career at Daimler. During his tenure, he made a big reversal in the sales of the US heavy truck business unit of Daimler, and he performed very well in the company's restructuring project. After the position of Mercedes-Benz Business Director was replaced by Wolfgang Bernhard, Schmueckle left the Daimler Group.
Schmueckle will join JCI on November 1 this year. After joining the company, he will be responsible for product quality supervision, procurement, production, and operations of JCI Automotive. He will also be the head of JCI's seat business. Schmueckle reports to Beda Bolzenius, President of the JCI Automotive Business Unit.
