Nanjing, September 7th, at 23:17 pm on the evening of the 6th, a four-ship collision water traffic accident took place in the waters near Jiangpu in the Yangtze River section of Nanjing. A ship turned upside down in the middle of the river and drifted to the No. 5 pier of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge. Initially confirmed that 3 people were missing.

The survey conducted by Penghu Tongda Shipping Co., Ltd. confirmed that the vessel was â€œWuhu Tongda 228â€ and there were 3 persons on board. On September 5th, about 2400 tons of cement clinker from Shuyang, Anhui Province was sent to Jingjiang.

At present, the search and rescue team has not yet found three people on board the stumbling ship. The on-site search and rescue work is still continuing. The ripping of the vessel from Pier 5 of the bridge is underway.

After the accident, Nanjing Water Search and Rescue immediately launched a plan. Yang Weize, secretary of the Communist Party of China (Nanjing), made instructions and requested full rescue, search for missing persons and protect the safety of the bridge.

Zhang Xinchun, deputy secretary-general of the Nanjing Municipal Government, and Guo Guoqing, executive deputy chief of the Nanjing Search and Rescue Center, rushed to the city search and rescue center to direct search and rescue.

The Nanjing Search and Rescue Center dispatched more than 10 rescue vessels such as the Nanjing Maritime Safety Administration, the Municipal Public Security Water Branch, the Nanjing Port Group Company, and Banqiao Ferry to carry out searches for missing persons and rescues of ships in distress and took control of ships.

Due to the lack of mooring equipment on the vessel, site rescue is extremely difficult. Although measures are taken, due to the fast flow of the Yangtze River, the vessel has drifted into the waters of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and pressed onto the bridge pier No. 5, with the remaining three vessels.
