The sales of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi in the first half of 2017 in the first half of the luxury car sales in China have been basically announced.
Mercedes-Benz (including the smart brand) sold 304,017 vehicles, an increase of 34%, the first time in China to climb the top spot in sales.
BMW (including MINI (Association, Pictures, and Inquiry) brand) sold 293,280 vehicles, an increase of 18.4%, and still ranked second.
Audi sold 253,635 vehicles, an increase of -12.2%, and lost its first-year sales championship in China for the first time.
According to data released by Mercedes-Benz, the 12% increase in the E-class vehicles has contributed the largest increase, while the C-class vehicles still grew by 24% year-on-year, and the overall growth of the car is 46%.
Another change is that from April onwards, the sales, after-sales, network development, marketing, and public relations of Fujian Mercedes-Benz V-Class vehicles are all handled by Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co., Ltd. In the first half of this year, the V-class car increased by 118% year-on-year.
From the perspective of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi's first-half growth rate of 34%, 18.4%, and -12.2%, if this trend is maintained, the annual sales ranking will remain unchanged and the gap will continue to widen.
However, in fact, the reasons for the decline of Audi's sales in the first half of the year are well-known because of the differences between SAIC Audi's projects and distributors, and the negative growth in the first half of the year is bound to not last long. According to the latest monthly sales in June, Mercedes-Benz (including smart) 52,116, BMW (including MINI) 50,597, Audi 51651, Audi has exceeded BMW. If you remove the smart brand 2026, Audi sales exceeded the Mercedes-Benz brand in June.
BMW slipped to third in June. The new 5 Series will become the key player in the second half of the year.
