Bentonite is widely used in various industrial sectors due to its water absorption, swelling, cation exchange, thixotropic, cohesive, adsorptive, thickening, lubricity, stability, and decolorization properties. Its main use is iron concentrate pellets, drilling mud, foundry sand binder, decolorization and purification of animal and vegetable oils.
(1) Quality standards for bentonite used in iron ore pellets
According to the building materials industry standard JC/T529-1995 of the People's Republic of China, the quality requirements of bentonite for iron ore pellets are listed in Table 1.
(2) Quality standards for bentonite for drilling mud
According to the building materials industry standard JC/T529-1995 of the People's Republic of China, the quality standards of bentonite for drilling mud are shown in Table 2.
(3) Quality standards for bentonite for casting sand bonding
According to the building materials industry standard JC/T529-1995 of the People's Republic of China, the quality standards of bentonite for casting sand bonding are shown in Table 3.
(iv) Bentonite for fine ceramics and architectural ceramics
For the original Soviet ГOCT7032-75 standard. Divided into two grades: ΦPK - production art and household ceramics, bentonite for electrical and radio ceramics; CK - bentonite for the production of architectural ceramics (wall panel and white, artificially dyed panels), see Table 4.
